Today, we’re putting down the poms for just a moment to give a BIG, sparkly shout-out to the people helping our cheerleaders shine: our coaches!
October 6 is National Coaches Day, and around here, that deserves a cheer loud enough to reach the very back of the gym!
Because behind every routine are hours of teaching, planning, correcting, encouraging—and counting to eight approximately eleventy-billion times.
Coaches notice the bent knee, the late motion, and the stunt that needs more work. But the coaches who leave a lasting mark also notice the quiet athlete who needs encouragement, the teammate having a rough day, and the small victory that deserves a very big celebration.
Sometimes that victory is a new skill. Sometimes it’s finally remembering the whole routine. And sometimes it’s simply walking into practice when your confidence wanted to stay home.
A coach who sees that effort can make all the difference. 💜
In cheer, coaches help athletes learn how to work together, trust one another, take feedback, and keep going when something doesn’t click right away. They help build the kind of confidence that follows a cheerleader beyond the mat—into school, work, friendships, and whatever adventure comes next.
And let’s give a little extra appreciation to the coaches navigating competition-day nerves, last-minute changes, missing bows, and a room full of athletes asking, “Are we going full out?”
The answer may be yes. Prepare your ponytail accordingly. 😂
To the coaches who make safety a priority, treat their athletes with kindness, and remind every member of the team that they matter: thank you.
Thank you for your patience. For celebrating progress. For helping athletes work through disappointment. For being proud of the effort that doesn’t always show up on a score sheet.
Here at Vaguely Veronica, we love celebrating the people who make the cheer community a more encouraging place. Today, our glittery round of applause is for you! ✨
If a coach has made a difference in your life—or your child’s life—take a moment to tell them. Send a message, write a little note, or share a favorite memory. A specific “thank you” can mean so much.
Who’s a coach you’d like to celebrate today, and what makes them special? Give them a shout-out in the comments! 💖
Happy National Coaches Day—with love, gratitude, and just a little glitter!
Big Bows and Best Wishes
