Who is one person in cheer that changed your experience?

Who is one person in cheer that changed your experience… without even realizing it?

It could be a coach, teammate, parent, judge, photographer, gym owner, or even someone you only met once at a competition.

Sometimes one kind word, one high five, or one little act of encouragement sticks with us for years.

I’d love to hear your story

When I thought of this question, one person came to mind instantly… my dear friend, Amy.

For the longest time, we were basically each other’s shadows. If you saw one of us, the other was probably only a few steps behind. She was already a cheerleader, and without ever trying to, she sparked my love for the sport.

She’d invite me to competitions, and I remember sitting in the crowd completely amazed. The energy, the music, the teamwork, the glitter, the bows… it all felt so magical. I don’t think she ever realized that those little trips together were quietly shaping something that would become a huge part of my life.

Years later, cheer has taken me on so many adventures, introduced me to incredible people, and even inspired me to create Vaguely Veronica. None of that would have happened quite the same way without those early competition days.

I don’t know if Amy ever realized the impact she had, but sometimes the people who change our lives the most aren’t the ones trying to. They’re simply sharing something they love… and inviting us along for the ride.

I love and miss you always 🩷
